Shooting into the sun

OK, BEFORE I read here that you are not supposed to EVER shoot directly into the sun, I did take a few shots directly at the sun while playing around with different f-stop, shutter speed combinations to see what effects I could get.

Now I am worried I broke my Canon G1X.  Did I break it?  How do I determine if it is damaged?

I opened and closed F stop and adjusted shutter speed until I got this which I liked.  I must have had it pointed at the sun at least 5 minutes.
