A to E mount adapter using NEX-6 sensor PDAF - possible?
Jun 3, 2013

I am considering buying NEX-6. Unfortunatelly there are no fast tele primes on the market (85mm, 100mm, 135mm). It's easy to buy those in A mount and use them via adapter with translucent mirror in it, but... I don't like the idea of loosing so much light just to get little more accurate AF.

I would love to know does old A to E mount adapter (LA-EA1) work with new, on sensor PDAF system?

1. Is the focus based on phase detection information (not only contrast detection)?

2. Does it work better / same /worse than using adapter with translucent mirror?

I cannot find any info about such feature - any proof (article / video) will do.

Thanks to all who know the answer and sorry for my english.

Sony Alpha NEX-6
