The YN603 can trigger both the camera shutter and flashes at the same time so I assume that with the 622 it is just a design decision (or rather a sales one). I think (might be wrong) that the 622 simply does not have a socket for the PC sync cable/shutter connecting cable. If I had to guess I would say they want you to buy a 602 as remote shutter release and 622s for the advanced flash trigger features.... with the 603 sitting in the middle doing both shutter release and flash triggering, but only in manual mode.
