I don't think field curvature is what plays here. It rather is the (quite normal) light fall-off and blurring that occurs near the outer edges of the image circle.

The better lenses have a sharp image circle that extends well beyond the FF frame (first impressions from my Nikon primes: some 2-4 mm at least). Real tit/shift lenses have an "extra-large" image circle, with additional care to avoid distortion across the frame. "Lesser" lenses - such as apparently this Tokina 17mm - have a "tight" sharp image circle.
