Not true at all.

As an example..here is a pic using the Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED AF DX on Full Frame (D3)

So knowing focal length in that case really doesn't have any practical use. It really isn't that complicated people.

I'm not trying to argue that Nikon should change it, I'm just questioning the logic that caused them to start out with a system that makes so little sense.

Makes perfect sense to the vast majority of posters and users here. Wonder why that is.
