Obviously it's not intentional or desirable, but bodies and lenses have their own life cycles.   Canon had that same problem back in 2005 when few of their lenses could stand up to the 16 mpx 1DsMKII.

And again, if the D800 was not out resolving their lenses, why do you think Zeiss would market a new  line of super expensive lenses to take full advantage of the D800 if the Nkkors were already managing to do the job?
