By "WSJ" do you mean "Wall Street Journal"? Well, this is Yahoo Finance 24/7 Wall Street, not  the Wall Street Journal. Its track record on this annual prediction is less than stellar. Go back and read previous years' predictions and you will see a lot of companies are still around. (for instance, he said Sears and Nokia and other companies that have rebounded would disappear in 2012. The year before it was TMobile, Eddie Bauer and more. On the other hand, he's not even bothered mentioning the demise of some companies such as Eastman Kodak.)

I am especially skeptical of non-photography writers making statements like the above. They think only in terms of who goes to buy gear from Best Buy or Amazon.com, and often don't even consider the companies that fit their description of being unviable, but maintain a place in the photography market.
