Well if you don't realize the difference between JPG and RAW, you probably have no business shooting RAW.  If you convert from RAW to JPG with default conversion program settings, you will see little difference.  RAW is to allow the photographer to choose how to develop the image. If you don't have the time or skills to do it and to learn it, then just shoot JPG and forget about it.

Plus RAW is much less of a factor on a P&S camera compared to an aps-c or 35mm dSLR.
