I own the a65. Love the camera, - I am currently using a new Tamron 18-270 pz lens for travel. My question is- is there another lens in the same range that will beat the Tamron as far as price, quality, performance? Thanks in advance, planning a trip to Greece, and want to get the best out of the A65 as far as travel lens go-

Not really, unless you are willing to lose quite a bit of zoom:

Sony DT 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 SAM

Sony DT 16-105mm F/3.5-5.6

Sony DT Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 16-80mm F/3.5-4.5

... or as EXX posted, use 2 x lens. The Sony DT 35mm F/1.8 is a lot sharper, almost a third the weight, half the size, several stops faster for low light shooting.
