You could try using QuickRes (http://www.quickresapp.com/, also available from the AppStore) and set your display to native resolution while working in NX. Your screen becomes huge (and programs tiny), but you will see the image 1:1.

So its probably a long wait for a fully satisfactory solution.

It appears that also the virtualisation machines do that same 2x2 pixelation when dealing with retina. At least I see that for LINUX.

Depends on the software. I use Parallels 8 and it fully supports Retina.
