I ended up going with the Chimera Octa 2 portable beauty dish (I think they call it the OB 2 Pro Kit when the speedlight bracket is included).

Liking it so far because it takes a sock and a grid with velcro at the same time for a soft pool of light that doesn't spray everywhere. It does seem to eat up quite a bit of light, will have to test what kind of output I can get from it.

Chimera offers a 50 degree eggcrate-style grid (which is made by LightTools), but I would recommend getting the 30 degree grid which is kind of a secret option, since I want control and 50 degrees isn't really that tight.
