pixelated Nikon ViewNX II on MacBook Pro retina, is there a way to clean 1:1 ?

I  compare  Mac Preview at 'Actual size' with Nikon ViewNX II at x0.5 setting  which gives the same magnification (size of image detail) on the retina screen for the same jpg image file. Yet the ViewNX II image is pixelated into 2x2 patches showing identical rgb brightness on the 4 pixels in the patch, while Preview shows variations from pixel to pixel as expected. The more subtly detailed picture in Preview is noticeable at normal viewing distance. The pixelated representation in ViewNX II is obvious at a critical close look.

Is there help for the two issues :

can the 2x2 pixelation be avoided in ViewNX II ?

can I have 'Actual size' in ViewNX II at the x1.0 setting and recover the also important x0.5 option?
