Has digital stitching made high megapixel cameras unnecessary?
May 20, 2013

In another thread there were people saying that landscape photographers needed higher megapixel cameras than Canon offered.

In a different thread someone posted a stunning landscape picture using four photographs shot with a 5D Mk III stitched together.

I'll admit I'm lazy, and want to do the least amount of work possible. But, my view is that moving around and storing high megapixel files like those generated by the Nikon D800 most of the time, for the few times I do need that many, is harder than using 18-20 megapixel files most of the time, and using stitching software for the few times I need a higher megapixel shot.
