The AF speed and accuracy of the K5ii is amazing even going well into dim light conditions.   It is better than my Sony A65 which has gathered lots of praise for its AF performance.

We all know that the K-5II(s) has better low light AF, and I've experienced this myself.

But is it supposed to have better AF-C performance in more normal light? I was never sure whether that was part of the claim.

I'm getting a higher ratio of well-focused airplane and motor sport photos with the K-5IIs than I was with the K-5. Perhaps I'm doing something different, or perhaps the AF improvements aren't just about low light performance.

In addition to improved focus in low light and f/2,8 sensor vs. f5.6, the K-5 II has improved tracking and faster AF compared to the K-5. I believe it also has more consistent focus in coloured light, which was an improvement announced with the K-30.

"The biggest difference is the latest, SAFOX X, autofocus sensor. This is designed to work in lower light than any of its rivals (down to -3EV) it will also provide greater accuracy when working with F2.8 and fast lenses. The SAFOX X also features more sophisticated focus tracking, to keep focus when the subject moves off the original focus point." http://www.dpreview.com/news/2012/09/10/Pentax-Ricoh-announces-Pentax-K-5-II-DSLR-and-K-5-IIs-with-no-low-pass-filter#press

"Internally, the K5 II gets only a few updates, including a new air-gapless LCD and an improved autofocus system; the latter of which offers a noticeable improvement in AF speed overall, and greater sensitivity in low light."

I don't have a K-5, I have a K20D, K-01 and K-x. I did buy a K-5 but it was unusable in tungsten light and I returned it. I didn't buy a K-5 IIs because I want more megapixels for cropping and improved CDAF with peaking, as in the K-30, along with whatever other goodies Pentax wants to throw in. I'm not interested in FF at this time.

The wait is longer than I expected. With all the rumours floating around, I thought there would be a pro spec APS-C announcement at CP+. I'm hoping the next body is delayed because they're holding out for an improved 20 or 24mp sensor.
