Canon XA10 v G20

I am unsure what the difference is in the sensor between these 2 camcorders. The G20 has a "pro" series 1/3" CMOS sensor, whilst this does not appear to be the case with the XA10.

Can someone please help me here.

I currently have a Legria HF s20 and mostly shoot school sports and when visiting game parks (mainly Kruger).

From a video quality point of view would there be any benefit in upgrading to one of the above?

The upcoming G30 would be great for Kruger park (20x zoom), so would also be an option. I'm not sure how video quality would compare.

Thanks for any advice.

Ronnie.
