Epson 3880 drips ink on prints
May 19, 2013

My Epson 3880 has a maddening habit of dripping ink on prints. Usually close to the edge, but often in the middle. Different colors, different times. I keep it covered up when not in use (most of the time), but pet hair is a likely culprit. But how do I fix it? I tried using my little Dyson rechargeable vac to get into the crevices, and was able to get a good print out of it, but then the next one had drips!

The pattern in the attached photo is actually new - it's been more random in the past.

I tried setting the platen gap to wider, which seemed to work for the first print after I did it, but then the problem came back.

I'm guessing there's some buildup on the bottom of the head or something, or maybe a piece of cat fur or something... but how do I fix it, while not screwing anything else up?
