I downloaded Darkroom, but I did get a disk image.  There does not seem to be an application to open.  This is a not uncommon problem with open source software.  It is buggy and unstable.

If you're on a Mac you just open the image and you'll get the usual app shortcut and Applications folder to drag it to.

If you're on a Win machine then I can't help you.

That being said; it's not going to replace Lightroom any time soon but it appears to be a start.

I do not get a disk image or application in the download, only a document.  Perhaps I am downloading from the wrong location, but it seems to be the correct one.  Could you send me a link to the downloadable application?

Rob

Never mind.  I found it.

OK, I got Darktable working on my Mac.  It turns out to be a raw convertor rather than a pixel level editor, such as Photoshop.  If I am wrong on this, please correct me.  I guess that I was expecting more, but the thread is about alternatives to LR4, not PS, after all.

For those who want a superb raw convertor, try Photo Ninja.  It does not have nearly as many features as LR, but the output is much better.  Adobe currently has a $50 promotional discount for LR, bringing it to $99.  PN is $129.
