I have both D7000 and D7100, but irrespective of camera, I found that focus and re-composing at very wide apertures resulted in slightly softer images, especially if the subject was reasonably close.

So now, at wide apertures,  I always use one of the other focal areas, so that I donb't have to re-compose, and although this of course works better on the D7100, I would give it a try first with your D7000 and see if you notice any improvements
