True, but 5.6 at the long end, and don't forget that SLR and DSLR's are making lenses for a long time. Because now the new DSLR fast zooms choices are not so many.

But even just looking at the past few years, the DSLR makers are significantly more productive in terms of faster zooms.  Nikon alone has 6 new designs over the past 3 years (16-35/4VR, 18-35/3.5-4.5VR, 24-85/3.5-4.5VR, 24-120/4VR, 70-200/2.8VR, 70-200/4VR).

Yes they are, but they have a lot more of costumers to please. Maybe it is that.
