Anyone here into sailing/yacht design?

I thought I would try a completely non politically charged subject for a change!

I'm designing a 6.8m trailer yacht and trying to find as many sites as possible for ideas and design analysis etc.

I grew up sailing in NZ on opti's, then P class, sunburst, Laser, and also crewing on various trailer yachts (my father owned several).

The web seems surprisingly sparse of info on yacht design in this size of craft.

My intention is to create a boat more for performance and fun sailing than cruising, though I am not going for carbon spars or anything too exotic as budget is a strong consideration. I still want to do overnight trips with my kids, so the boat will definitely have some consideration for this use as well.

I am leaning toward strip plank cedar/ply construction to keep weight down and a planing hull form with a plumb bow, big cockpit, gennaker prod, and approx 2.5m of beam for crew ballast with 150-200kg of lead in the keel.

Does anyone out there have any advice or experience you would like to share? any websites or other trailer yacht information would be very helpful as well, or feel free to just talk boats!!
