Photographers don't generate very large Photoshop revenue stream for Adobe

Rarely does the monolithic monopoly holding giant in a market segment do something so stupid that will alienate a large portion of the client base (or at least make them open to attractive alternatives).

Large - yes. Majority - No.

Adobe makes over 70% of its revenue from enterprises and small & medium businesses. Less than 30% comes from consumers. Out of that consumer portion of the revenue, a rather small portion comes from photographers. Larger majority comes from graphic designers. Out of that small part of the revenue, a sizable chunk use Light Room, which is currently not planned for the subscription model outlined by Adobe. That leaves rather small revenue opportunity for a rank outsider to start to heavily invest.
