Exactly!  Great way of stating what I've been thinking very succinctly.

One other point is that I want to be able to guarantee that I can open my own work at a later date, even if Adobe goes out of business.  How can the "cloud" model work in that scenario?  Suddenly all your Photoshop files are unusable, since the software can no longer phone home?  That would be an intolerable situation.
