Resolution question for Canon cameras

I have a new Canon Rebel T4i.  When editing the images (jpeg's) in Photoshop CS6 I've see the image resolution is 72 DPI.  Other images I've worked with from Nikon cameras are always 300 DPI.  Is there a way in the Rebel T4i (or any Canon camera) to make the default resolution 300 DPI.  I've looked in the manual and find nothing.  Any help would be appreciated.  JDavis
