I object to the principle more than the money.

Currently if Adobe doesnt do a decent job or innovation and improvement to the product, I do not have to pay a penny if the improvements are not worth the price of an upgrade.

Now Adobe want me to pay whether they improve the product or not. Adobe has much less incentive to improve the product.

It seems to me that it is a pricing policy to reflect the fact that the product is fairly mature and it is increasing difficult for the company to introduce valuable innovations which customers are willing to pay for. I dont think it is so much a case of trying to get customers to pay more rather a reflection that Adobe is going to offer less.
