Looking for DSLR + Daypack

Hi,

I am looking for a backpack that can serve me both as a DSLR bag and carrying other stuff like t-shirts, jacket, book, food and similar stuff.

My camera gear is modest, Nikon D90 with Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8. This summer I will be going to see different european cities, mostly 2 or 3 day trips from my base in Paris. So I am looking for a backpack that can serve me well while keeping me light for budget airlines and city travel.

I have found these two options from Crumpler.

and

http://www.crumpler.eu/index.cfm?seite=collections&productID=8000&sprache=EN

Both are within my budget, and thing I like about them is that the camera compartment is at the bottom so I have all space at the top.

I wanted to know if someone else is using one of these or any other brand with same gear as me. I can also look into buying a simple day pack (I have a camera insert from Vanguard Up Rise 33 messenger bag), but I have no clue about simple hiking backpacks. Some are 25 liter and some are 30, 35, 40 or even above 40 liters. I am confused which one to get, I do not want to get a big one to carry (I am 5'7") or too small.

Any help or suggestion will be appreciated.

Regards,

Imran
