The question is whether it makes more sense to just buy more standard Sigma (ricoh) batteries, or to make this external battery pack. Cost and weight are considerations - the external battery might be used for multiday off-grid camping trips.

Nancy,

the Anker Astro 3 has a listed weight of 10 oz and cost $60.

the 3ft StarTech TypeH cable is $3 and very light of course.

I put the AA3 in my coat pocket or the back pocket of my jeans. at 10KmAh I am guessing about 6-7 time the capacity of a battery. I guess I can fire off 500 shots of my backyard and kids to see how much power my 2M will suck from it.

BTW, both the AA3 and Cable can be found on Amazon.

Hi Choi,

May I ask how your experience with the setup so far?  Any issue with switching on the DPM?  Any issue with continuous shooting?  Any issue with card read & write?

I've tried a similar setup which I got from Taobao:

An OEM SAC-5:  http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.1.Q2sKos&id=19390360833

A portable battery:  http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.1.Nfti2z&id=18057056012

But the result was no good.  The DPM can be switched on and shot.  But sometimes, I experienced a sudden power off.  Also, sometimes problem with SD read & write, i.e. images being written to the SD were corrupted.

So I decided to return the products to the seller.

I'm wondering if you have experienced the same for your setup.

Appreciate your advice and thanks in advance.

Gary
