400 mm f:4 - the ideal long telephoto lens?
May 4, 2013

The rumored 400 mm f:4 telephoto lens seems to be a well balanced compromise between focal length, brightness, weight and cost. Very useable focal length for wildlife and many kinds of sports, Bright enough to ensure short exposures at reasonable low ISO settings and very fast and reliable focusing, not too heavy to carry around all the day (sure we don't know the weight, but with 100 mm front lens diameter we could expect a weight close to the excellent and pretty lightweight Minolta 400 mm f:4.5). We just have to cross our fingers and hope for an affordable price, way lower than the 500 mm f:4.

Maybe my Next new lens after the Zeiss 50 mm f:1.4! What about you?
