I don't have an explanation, but I think that these several comments by Louis Armstrong in response to questions about his music and about jazz could be also thought of in relation to Street:

"What we play is life."

"We all do 'do, re, mi,' but you have got to find the other notes yourself."

"Never play a thing the same way twice."

"If you have to ask what jazz is, you'll never know."
