Are DXO's distortion figures quoted additional to the in built distortion correction or from the native image that is projected onto the sensor. Even after correction there is still some distortion on the LX7 which if you were a perfectionist you would probably want to correct further.

DxO Optics Pro does not utilize the image-file meta-data relating to rectilinear distortion provided by Panasonic. DxO Labs characterizes camera-lens systems themselves, recording over 1,000 images at various combinations of Focal Lengths, F-Numbers (and possibly Focus Distances, as well) in order to make their DxO Optical Correction Modules for any specific camera-lens combination - correcting for Rectilinear Distortion, "Lens Softness", Chromatic Aberration, and Vignetting. Versions 8.x support the LX7. Versions 7.x support the LX3/LX5.

Info about "Lens Softness" is here: http://www.dxo.com/us/photo/dxo_optics_pro/features/optics_geometry_corrections/lens_softness

I find DxO's rectiliear (barrel, pincushion) distortion corrections to be higher quality than the corrections that LR/CR, Silkpix, RAW Therapee, etc. perform using the Panasonic data. The corrections appear to based on a more complicated process which does more than correct from a single point in the center of the image-frame. I cannot replicate it using Lightroom or RAW Therapee. Have not tried, but strongly suspect the same is true where it comes to Silkypix.
