Actually I believe EVF are much cheaper than a well engineered pentaprism and mirror on optical viewfinders.  I don't think optical viewfinders will be buried any sooner than windshields in cars are replace by digital displays , or windows in houses replaced by CCTV and widow sized monitors.

that's the proper analogy.  when your car windshield can be replaced by an evf and you couldn't tell the difference, then we're talking! until then, the mirror is our best solution. and when i see the hyperbole being used: "dinosaur", "flippy", "slapping", i don't see discussion. things that work and are good will last.  the mirror has been around a long time. so far, there's no real replacement.  in a few years, perhaps.

and as much as some users want to make the u43 cameras sound as good as dslrs, the only reason to get one is still size.  take that out, and nobody would buy one. what does that mean?
