The 3000 has the advantage of having static cartridges with the cis.  I have read where constantly removing the refillable carts can cause wear on the contacts but presume this over a long period of time.  Im swaying towards the cis anyone have any experience on both  please.

I have used a number of different CIS units over several years but all of the moving tubes variety.  In every case (Epson and Canon) I found it was the Magenta that had problems - no idea why but the ink flow always caused problems that appeared to be nozzle clogs but weren't.  So, I switched over to the (admittedly less convenient) refillables and have had no problems.  In my 1400, for example, the same refillables have been in use for about 4+ years without any problems either with the chips or the seals and same applies to the dye ink office all-in-one Epson DX7400.  I just refill all when one shows empty and reset the chips - that way only one clean takes place, instead of one for each cartridge change.  The CIS without moving bits sounds a superior method but as said, no problems for me even with a lot of cartridge refilling over several years.
