OK, I could be wrong. I guess that Sony may have sacrificed corner performance for a compact design (look at how much larger the Sigma is). I would still like to see a test with another E20 sample.

Just don't judge the lens by f2.8 performance alone. It's common for lenses to suffer a bit  in the corners wide open, but if you can shrink the aperture by one stop and it is OK, then I would think that is pretty good, myself.  (The SEL1628 needs f7.1 on my copy to really start to no longer have that smearing.)
