I want to get a circular polarizer filter for my Nikkor 18-105mm VR (67mm). I know I sound naive but I have never used one before as I was under the impression that you had to fit a 'holder' on the lens and then place the filter inside (which I thought was too messy/expensive). But reading around I understand that there are CPFs with one half screwed on to the lens and the other half rotating. If that is the case, I am definitely interested as I understand the benefits when shooting in bright sunshine, near water etc.

Are there different grades/degrees of polarization or are they all the same?

My budget is around $50.

I'll appreciate your advice and may be some explanations on how best to use the filter, or a link to a good source of explanation/instructions.

Thanks for your time

ps If you see someone without a smile on, give him one of yours...

I use B+W CPL and highly recommend it. Unfortunately it is twice you budget.
