Instead of comparing let's look at the D800 sample a moment.

Do you really like the image? Detail? What detail? So much noise, almost looks like an iso25600 shot. On the top of that highlight still appears blown.

This kind of comparison pics adds nothing new to the argument that new Sony sensors lift shadows better than Canon sensors. We all know that. But it also shows something else which you forgot to mention, when lighting gets real difficult in real world all current sensors fail. You will either have to live with suboptimal results or use HDR for acceptable results even with mighty D800.

All cameras need lower read noise including those with Sony sensors. Sony/Nikon is one step ahead in the right direction, but pretending that they have already reached the target is very misleading to say the least.
