This is an intellectual property issue with Sony not Nikon. Sony has read noise patent that has been covered in this forum many times. Like everyone else I would like to have access to the Sony IP. Guess what we don't.  Get over it.

Hopefully Canon is working on a solution. Many experts have said it would be very tough. I remember not long ago Nikon users had to wish they had Canon performance. This went on for many years.

this is not a Sony issue, the 7100 sensor is a Toshiba co work with nikon. Nikon works together with Aptina, Sony, Renesas, toshiba , Canon are alone with old sensor lines, no R&D regarding mobile phones sensor etc
