You can't go wrong with the 24-105 as a walk around. It will be useful if you upgrade to FF. You will appreciate the IS and extra reach over the 24-70.

There are plenty of bargains on this lens since it a kit and many people by new bodies as a kit and sell the extra 24-105. Also dealers break up the kits and sell body and lens seperately even though I think Canon frowns about this practice.

Unless you are certain you'll never want a FF body don't buy EF-S lenses.

I have read that the Sigma 24-70 with IS is very nice and competively priced. If you are not afraid off 3rd party lenses this may be a good alternative to the 24-70LII.
