With SSD or Hard Drive you still need to backup your data. Both SSD and hard drives have firmware and embedded software running on it written by human beings which make them inherently vulnerable to bugs and failures. I do ZFS snaps of my photo stuffs for hobbies on my Solaris 11 ZFS server to an HP LTO4 SAS drive using HP LTO4 tape, 2 copies, and store one copy at a relative's house 500 miles away. Also best practices dictates you need ECC memory and a server board which supports ECC memory.
