Well, at least this thread made me revisit the 60D specifications. Very similar price to the D7000 now, but I think you know which is the better-featured and produces better results.

D7000 does have better paper spec but not necessarily better result. Sensors never take photos by themselves but must together with lenses where Canon has much better choice. What counterpart of 100-400L (until new Nikon $2700 80-400), 70-200L/4.0 IS (again until new $1400 Nikon 70-200G/4.0 VR), EF-S 17-55/2.8 IS (Nikon counterpart doesn't have VR), EF-S 10-22 (much better than Nikon counterpart)?

The D7000 is rather closer to the 7D, which is irrelevant to those locked into Canon of course. With my lenses I could have swung either way so it was interesting for about five minutes....

Actually not very close. In reality even 60D has deeper buffer than D7000 that is more important than difference between 5.3 and 6fps. 60D has no AF issue despite lacking of MFA (all my Canon lenses and Sigma 17-50/2.8 OS don't have AF issues). We heard many D7000 AF fiasco (BF/FF), oil leaking at least in initial batches, and over-exposed Matrix metering (that still an issue in virtually all Nikon models). Although D7000 does have better paper spec but not necessarily take better photos with respective lens' choice.
