I am planning to take a series of close up and macro shots for a surgeon friend during an operation. I will work from varying distances from the subject but can really get as close as I wish. My question is how would you light this scenario?

I have umbrellas and strobe lights, two flashes and a D3s to crank the ISO for available light. Would a video light be the answer, or does anyone like ring flash? Or just careful on camera flash for simplicity?

i would be very interested to hear opinions please. The pictures are intended for teaching so I may also use my D800 fir better resolution.

thank you!
