Dumped my Canon T3i and all my fun lenses for the same reason--just wouldn't take it with me anymore--too much stuff to worry about. I went on a trip with a pocketable Sony RX100 and was very pleased with that--had all the DSLR features and image quality I needed. Then I bought the Canon SX50 to get more zoom. Now I'm complete. For the wonderful scenery shots and blow ups of flowers, the RX100 can't be beat. For everything else the SX50 fills the bill. Note that I checked out the Sony HX300 and Fujifilm SL1000 before settling on the SX50.
