YES.  That's the perfect description.  Transparency, a sense of smooth clarity, as if you were looking through a window without glass, as it were.

So why is this absent from the Merrills?  I was totally expecting the Merrills to have that sense of transparency, but the more I look for it the less I see.

And it's the main reason why I haven't bought any Merrills yet, more pressing professional purchases notwithstanding.  Until the Merrills show me the same kind of glorious oomph as the original DPx's, I can't see myself buying them, which is a real shame, as I adore my Sigma cameras and was thoroughly expecting to feel the same about the new ones.

Same sentiments. I miss using ISO 50, which has even more pop.
