I wish the f4 version had VR. I have the f2.8 VR II but wouldn't mind to have the lighter F4 if it had VR.

I find VR so useful in the 300mm range. Opens up hand held photographing to a great degree, helps with TCs as well.

Anyway, go with the Nikon system if you are more familiar with it to start out with.
