I can highly recommend the Zeiss 21 f2.8 and on the m9 is so nice that it behaves like a 21. The f2.8 summaron is a fine performer indistuinguishable from the early summicron 35 except at f2 hehe.  I have owned several. I had at one time the summaron on one body and the summicron on another. The summaron was slightly less contrasty and I attribute that to a slight haze in the summaron which I later cleaned up and then there was no real difference.

Thanks for the info on the Summaron 35. Confirms my opinion: I had one many years ago and loved the way it imaged.

I know the Zeiss 21 is excellent, but I'm more inclined to go with the Zeiss Biogon 25/2.8 ZM. 21mm is a bit too wide for me, on average, when using 24x36 format, I tend to use a 24-25mm lens a lot more of the time. The 21mm works superbly for me with APS-C format, however.
