How do you delete your unneeded photos or do you hoard them like me?

I travel a lot. My most recent trip was a fortnight-long photography tour (of Arctic Scandinavia in winter ... it's on my website if you're interested). I brought home around 300 photos from that trip; some in our group returned with 2000. Out of every ten photos I take, I delete about four immediately (in the field), then another two that evening, and take about four home. When I get home I process about one in four (ie one in the original ten) and convert them to TIFF for publishing in books or sales to third parties. I keep (on an external hard drive and two DVD backups) those four out of ten raw files and the one out of ten TIFF files.

The people who took 2000 on the last trip assured me that they keep them all.

The mind boggles
