In the thread "Oh... That DP3M"  there is a discussion about what the ISO of the camera really is, and what is best to shoot at.

There is an enormous discussion going on in the open forum under "DPR Chickens Out Pt 2" about how the concept of ISO needs to be revisited  when working with digital.  It is quite heated with some posters even editing wikipedia entries so they agree with their points of view.

It was also shown in this forum a few months ago that changing the ISO setting in the camera does not affect the raw capture at all.  If you set the iris and shutter manually, you can put the ISO wherever you like.  The raw data doesn't change.  The ISO setting is just an instruction to SPP so it knows how to map the raw data to the densities in the final print.
