No, "pro" cameras are made of metal to help keep the price up, not that its an advantange at all.  There are different grades of plastic and it can be made very durable.  The flexibility of plastic makes it more durable than metal.  Metal is the shell construction of the 70s and 80s.  Plastic is 21st century!
