That kind of explains about Appleworks.  Most of the lectures I want to "translate" or convert were from the 90's.  It may be my summer project to convert them to cwk on my older iMac on 10.6.8 and then send them over to the newer iMac where we just installed 10.8.3.  At least it will be an interesting review of courses I taught  !  

thanks for the note and info about "neooffice".

Also look for LibreOffice, which is also a port from OpenOffice, and seems to be a bit more up to date too.
