I'm not having any speed problems using Photoshop 7 but I'm curious.

PS7 is a 32-bit app - it wont "see" much over 2Gb. Increasing from 1 to 2Gb helped a lot - that was XP 32-bit. At the time 7 came out, 3 to 5 times the image size was reckoned to be a good start point for RAM allocated to PS.

For those who increased their RAM from 8GB to "16GB or more", did the increase make your photo editor run appreciably faster to be worthwhile?  If so, about how much faster in percentage and which photo editor are you using?

I have 8Gb, with CS5 64-bit. for stitching large panos it sometimes slows down quite a bit. For general use though, it's very quick - much faster than 7
