How sharp can lenses get for a certain format, i read somewhere that currently the best lenses are within 10% of theoretical maximum, with current materials. Wild question: 50mpix sensor on FX, can a lens be made to fully take advantage of it? Which one is the bottleneck in theory, Lens or sensor?

Or are we going to see every element aspherical and out of the best low dispersion glass? Or will there be a limit on the sensor?
