I think for most people the people in the picture and the mood of it matter the most. If the situation is engaging and the picture is sufficiently sharp to recognise that, the rest matters less. I even think that some people feel it is better when sharpness and light does not reveal all. My wife often tells me, that those expensive lenses I own for my DSLR are flawed and shows her as she will look in ten years.
